PRESS RELEASE
October 2010 New York, NY - Automatic Sprinkler System CON due at DOH by January 1, 2011
The amendment of federal regulations by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (42 CFR 483.70(a)(8)(i)) requires all nursing homes that participate in the Medicare or Medicaid programs to be protected throughout the facility by a supervised automatic sprinkler system. Those impacted facilities have already completed and submitted both the Nursing Home Sprinkler Survey (November 2009) as well as a sprinkler design, funding and installation plan (June 2010) to the New York State Department of Health (DOH). The final step, submission of a Certificate of Need, must be submitted to the Bureau of Project Management by January 1, 2011, which will allow DOH review and a full two-year period to complete final design and sprinkler installation by August 2013.
Loeb & Troper would be happy to provide assistance throughout the Certificate of Need process and through project completion. Please feel free to contact Deborah Lynch, Principal, at 212-697-3000 or dlynch@loebandtroper.com should you require further information or wish to discuss your project.
